DEMONSTRATION CLASSES
A demonstration lesson is simply a planned lesson for a group of students. It is most effective to observe a candidate teach a lesson to students and not to the members of the Selection Team. This section of the toolkit provides an overview of the process and procedures for conducting demonstration lessons. It includes a guiding question, the major steps in designing and implementing the demonstration lesson systematically, references, resources, and templates with examples.
On 25/11/2019 monday we conducted a demonstration lesson class section in our college. We selected students of 8th and 9th standards from ST.Gregorios High School .5-6 students for each classes. Before starting the demonstration section we conducted an exhibition for all students by natural science ,malayalam and social science departments. After exhibition the demonstration classes were started. Pupils from the school were very active and was very interested.
First section of demonstration was done by a second year B.Ed student Naifa. She deals with the topic BLOOD . The class was very interesting. From the beginning to end she maintained a good student -teacher interaction .Used teaching aids like charts, activity cards ,etc,. appropriately.Evaluation section was very good and she ensured the active participation of students .
She gave an assignment for student.
The second section was handled by Assistant Prof.of NaturalScience dept. DR. Sivapria K.S . She deals with the topic DIFFERENT TYPES OF TEETH for 9th standard students. She introduced the topic with a small story to come to the term teeth. She provided activity cards, models of teeth , pictures of teeth , charts ect. in the presentation evaluation section. She concluded the class with a small poem and gave followup activities to students. From this class we got new ideas on how to be creative in class to gain attention of students.
The third section was handled by another teacher DR. Deepu P R . He demonstrated the topic KIDNEY .For this section students got changed. He used models and ICT in the section. In this section the students who attended the class contains some exceptions, some are over active, some are silent . Overall the three classes gave three different experiences for us . Got how to manage a class , how to handle different types of students, how to function a class interesting , how will be introduction ,teaching process, use of teaching aids, conclusion, application , evaluation, followup activities, etc.
It gave a new experiences / lessons of teaching.
